‘I’ve been crying a lot’: Former ‘Parks and Recreation’ star shares her emotional story of dealing with depression
Former “Parks” star Kim Min Kim said on Tuesday that she has struggled with depression and anxiety for years.
“I’ve always struggled with the illness,” Kim said in a video posted on her Instagram account.
“Sometimes I feel like I’ve been born with a disease.”
In the video, Kim was talking about how she had “never been diagnosed with anything.”
“I feel like there’s a disease that I’ve never been diagnosed, and it’s the same thing for so many people who suffer from depression,” Kim says.
Kim, 39, said that she had experienced depression for about a year before the 2015 death of her mother.
The actor, who is also known as Kim Yoo Jin, has had bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression and borderline personality disorder.
She said that while she had some mental health issues before her mother’s death, they were never severe.
“My mother was the last person who was in my life who really did take care of me and give me everything I needed to survive,” Kim Min Kyo said.
Kim said that her mother died when she was only 22.
She did not elaborate on what caused her mother to die, other than to say that she did not know at the time.
“She died of an unknown cause, and I have no idea what that cause was,” Kim told Oprah Winfrey.
“It’s still unclear to me.”
She said she has had many close relationships with people who have also battled mental health conditions, and said that this past year she has been a bit more open with them about her struggles.
“There are times where I can’t be myself anymore, and people start asking me what I am doing,” Kim wrote.
“They think I’m crazy, but it’s actually kind of the opposite.”
Kim has been vocal about her mental health struggles, particularly in the past year.
She spoke out against bullying in 2014, saying that she was “overwhelmed by the sheer volume of bullying.”
The actress also spoke out in 2017 against her “Bachelor in Paradise” co-star and co-host, Ryan Seacrest, who she said “liked to bully” her.
Kim has also said that being bullied at school has affected her health and that she felt “like a monster” after a teacher threw a rock through her window during an argument.
In 2017, Kim also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
to discuss her mental illness and to share that she received “a lot of support” from her parents and friends.
Kim Min Yoo said that the bullying at school affected her “to the point where it was really hard to talk about it,” and that it “made me feel like a monster.”
Kim said she was able to “get back to normal” when she received the support from her family and friends in 2016, but that she also struggled with her mental state for about five years before her death.
“When I was 17, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and anxiety, and then I had to get rid of all the drugs I was on,” Kim, who had bipolar depression for most of her life, said.
“And then I ended up on my own and I didn’t really know how to be happy.”
